From new housing developments and apartment complexes popping up everywhere to the ever-worsening traffic across the region, it’s obvious that our area is growing–*rapidly.* The Northwest Arkansas Council [estimates that an average of 36 people a day](https://www.cnbc.com/2024/06/06/walmart-hometown-bentonville-arkansas-gets-more-expensive.html?ref=nwalook.com#:~:text=A%20mural%20promoting%20bicycle%20travel,21%2C%202022.&text=Boosted%20by%20Walmart%2C%20its%20vendors,who%20recently%20moved%2C%20she%20said.) are moving to Northwest Arkansas, projecting that our population will reach *1 million people* by 2050. So where are these people moving from, where are they living, and what should we be thinking about moving forward? #### **Who’s Moving to Northwest Arkansas?** According to [United Van Lines Data](https://www.unitedvanlines.com/top-states-to-move-to?ref=nwalook.com), Arkansas ranked as the fourth-top state people moved to in 2023, and [data from Talk Business & Politics](https://talkbusiness.net/2024/03/nwa-18th-fastest-growing-u-s-metro-benton-county-leads-states-growth/?ref=nwalook.com) ranks Northwest Arkansas as the 18th fastest-growing metro area in the country. [Data from the Department of Motor Vehicles](https://arkansasadvocate.com/briefs/texas-california-residents-top-out-of-staters-moving-to-arkansas-in-23-dmv-data-shows/?ref=nwalook.com) shows that the majority of inbound license transfers to Arkansas in 2023 came from Texas, California, and Missouri. The appeal is clear: many are seeking a lower cost of living and a slower pace of life, combined with access to the great outdoors and a tight-knit community feel. #### **The Fastest Growing Towns in NWA** Every major city in the NWA metro area has something unique to offer. Bentonville, Rogers, Springdale, Fayetteville are the glue that holds our community together: but the five fastest-growing towns in our region are actually the suburban towns in-between and on the outskirts, where people live and do life with access to all the amenities and opportunities of the larger cities.
